What is surface thermometer ?
Surface thermometer is a device that measures temperature or a temperature gradient. (The degree of hotness or coldness of an object) surfaces. A thermometer has two important elements. The Firstly is a temperature sensor (e.g. the bulb of a mercury-in-glass thermometer or the pyrometric sensor in an infrared thermometer.) In which some change occurs with a change in temperature. The other is some means of converting this change into a numerical value (e.g. the visible scale that is marking on a mercury-in-glass thermometer or the digital readout on an infrared model). Thermometers are widely uses in technology and industry to monitor processes, in meteorology, in medicine, and in scientific research.

TQC Magnetic Surface Thermometer
TQC Magnetic Surface Thermometer specialize design for measuring the surface temperature of steel or other ferrous objects. What you need in firstly is only placing the thermometer on ferrous metal substrates with the strong magnet on the back, and thermometer will stick on steel surface.. Finally the surface temperature will read out in both °C and °F.

Just attach the thermometer on the ferrous surface.
Then the magnet creates a strong connection with the steel surface, and allowed the thermometer to acclimatize with the substrate for some time before it is read. After that read the temperature and also use it for registration or to assist in determining the dew point.

A handy pocket size Thermapen digital thermometer with fold-able stainless steel probe. Why surface temperature measurement is critical?
ASTM D3276, “Standard Guide for Painting Inspectors (Metal Substrates),”1 states that the minimum surface temperature for coating application is usually 40ºF (5ºC). It may be as low as 0ºF (–18ºC) for “cold-curing” one or two-component systems or 50ºF (10ºC) for conventional two-component systems. Paint specifications may further state that painting should not be undertaken when the temperature is dropping and within 5ºF (3ºC) of the lower limit.
The maximum surface temperature for coating application is typically 125ºF (50ºC) unless clearly specified otherwise. A surface that is too hot may cause the coating solvents to evaporate so fast that application is difficult, blistering takes place, or a porous film results.
