Why Concrete Moisture Measurement is Important
Concrete Moisture Meter is non-destructively measures the moisture level.
Before applying a protective coating or other flooring materials to a concrete slab, it is critical to ensure that the moisture level inside the concrete has decreased to acceptable levels—typically ≤75% Relative Humidity (RH), 3 lbs/1000 sq. ft./24 hours MVER, or ≤5% Moisture Content (MC).
If not, moisture can accumulate below the coating or flooring and will causing discoloration, cupping, buckling, blistering, adhesive failure, and/or mold growth. There are various methods used for concrete moisture measurement. The two most-common methods utilize as the first is non-destructive electronic impedance meters (ASTM F2659) or teh second is In Situ relative humidity probes (ASTM F2170).
Proper inspection of the moisture content in concrete before installing a flooring system is a necessary part in quality control and assurance—lowering the chances of a flooring system failure.

2. TQC Concrete Moisture Meter.
TQC Concrete moisture meter is a non-destructive moisture meter for concrete. With a simple pressing the instrument against the concrete surface the moisture content of concrete can be easily to determine.
The electrical impedance is measured through generating a low frequency electric field between 8 electrodes at the bottom of the instrument. Depending on the moisture content the measurements are made to a depth of several centimeters.
This system is not suitable to measure through electrically conductive materials like metal or rubber linings and also wet surfaces.
TQC Concrete Moisture meters are ideal to quickly test large concrete floors, to be paint construction, or (wooden) flooring are being installation.
Four moisture meter scales
Four scales allow flexible use of the instrument as an accurate measuring device or just as a detector to find moisture traces or leakage.
Firstly – Concrete 0-6% H2O
Concrete scale only used for concrete surfaces. It shows the relation between weight of pure water contained in the tested material with its dry weight. The scale range varies between 0 and 6% as 6% is about maximal physically possible content of water in the concrete.
The obtained results should not influence by moisture emission or any other humidity measurement methods.
Secondly – Carbide Method 0-4% H2O
Carbide scale shows concrete humidity according to the carbide method.
Thirdly – Relative Scale 0-100%
Relative scale formally used in humidity level comparison of various materials. The Obtained results should not be interpret as percentage content of water in tested surfaces. There is no linear correlation between the outcomes and relative humidity. The scale only use as comparison technique. Scale may be uses on the surfaces where direct contact with pure concrete is impossible because of some layer/covering.
Fourthly – 15. Scale 0.3-15.3m
15 Scale works in a similar way as the Relative scale and can be uses alongside meters with the same scale, which ranges between 0.3 and 15.3.
