Moisture Meter

What Is Moisture Meter

Moisture Meter are uses to measure the percentage of water in a given substance. This information can be use to determine if the material is ready for use unexpectedly wet and also dry, or otherwise in need of further inspection. Wood, paper and also concrete products are very sensitive to their moisture content. Physical properties are strongly affecting by moisture content. High moisture content for a period of time may progressively degrade a material.

Moisture Meter

Moisture is often confused with “humidity”.

Humidity is definition as the ratio of the partial pressure of water vapor in the mixture to the saturated vapor pressure of water at a prescribed temperature.

Moisture refers to the presence of a liquid, especially water, and also often in trace amounts.
The water content of materials to be coating is an important parameter, and also will effect the coating result.

Gravimetric or moisture balance

This method is base upon the loss of weight of a material after it is dry. A special analytic balance is use to measure the total weight of the sample. Then the sample is drying with a special device which is integrate in the balance. The evaporation of the moisture will reduce the weight of the sample. When the weight of the sample remains stable it indicates all moisture has been taken out of the material and also the drying process stops. The difference between “wet” and “dry” sample is an accurate indication of the moisture content. This type of test is mainly use for grain- shape materials or powders.
