Who is Testex Tape

Testex

Testex is the leading US manufacturer of the  Press-O-Film replica tape, replica tape reader, and also Dial thickness Gauge . Press-O-Film provides inspectors and researchers a simple way to obtain an impression of a surface.

Press-O-Film (POF) consists of a layer of crush-able plastic micro foam coating onto a polyester film of highly uniform thickness.

When compressing against a roughness material, Press-O-Film accurately replicates details of its surface roughness.

The impression can be studies in several ways:

A simple micro-metric dial thickness gauge can be applying to the replica for field measurement of the average maximum peak-to-valley roughness, or “profile,” of a replicates surface.
Also available use with digital thickness gauge such as the PosiTector RTR. It can also field-measure profile and bridge the gap between tape grades by incorporating automatic linearization.
An optical profiling interferometer or confocal microscope can be uses in laboratory settings to produce maps of the replica’s surface topography. This is most appropriate to study of subtle features at the micro inch (25 nanometer) level.

Standardization Testex Tape measurement

ISO 8503-5:2003 describes a field method for measuring the surface profile produces by any of the abrasive blast-cleaning procedures given in ISO 8504-2. The method uses replica tape and a suitable gauge for measuring, on site, the roughness of a surface before the application of paint or another protective coating.

The method is applicable within the range of profiles cited for a given grade (or thickness) of replica tape. The commercial grades currently available permit measurement of average peak-to-valley profiles from 20 micrometres until 115 micrometres. The method is valid for surfaces that have been clean with either metallic or non-metallic abrasives.

PT, Cuanli Perkasa Jaya is one of TesTex Tape worldwide distributors located in Indonesia.
