Description

TQC Hull Roughness Gauge

TQC has made the next evolutionary step in TQC hull roughness Gauge surveys. Surpassing the industrial standards with an easy 4-way directional operation. With an easy push button, graphical representations, storage of data in multiple batches and also survey reports in Microsoft Excel. The whole system fits into a small sized waterproof rugged casing. That is easy to carry on travel luggage and benefits your overseas travel plans.

Controlling the roughness of a ship’s hull plays an important role in the operating costs of a vessel. The roughness of a ship’s hull increases mainly due to corrosion, pitting, plate undulation, mechanical damage, dry spray and above all bio fouling. Proper maintenance and the correct application of high-end anti-fouling coatings will reduce the hydrodynamic effects. And it also will lead to significant savings on fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

According to NACE SP0616-2022, Standard for Hull Roughness Measurements on Ship Hulls in Dry Dock.

This standard practice provides a standardized method of measuring hull roughness to enable reproducible and comparable readings from similar gauges regardless of geographical location.

One of the factors affecting a ship’s performance and also fuel consumption is the roughness of its foul-free underwater hull. the Condition and type of paint system used may have a major influence on hull roughness and ship performance. Hull roughness has a major impact on vessel fuel efficiency and exhaust emissions. This standard focuses on the mechanical roughness of the hull.

Hull fouling and roughness could increase the ship fuel consumption dramatically. Regular in-service cleaning is beneficial if damage to coating is avoided. Regular cleaning of macro-fouling is highly
recommended. For partial cleaning, the priorities are with the forward third of hull and also areas that have more exposure to light.
For best results, the scheduling of cleaning should be based either on performance monitoring or on regular under-water inspections. Regular inspection, photographs and roughness measurements would be a
prudent way to monitor the impact of cleaning and the condition of the coating.

Our hull roughness gauges represent the next evolutionary step in hull roughness surveying and also have been taking the marine industry by storm. They’re relied upon across the seven seas by ship operators, ship builders, ship repairers and also coating manufacturers.

The hull roughness increases with corrosion, pitting, plate undulation, mechanical damage, dry spray and also biofouling. Monitoring the roughness of a ship’s hull plays an important role in controlling the vessel’s operating costs. Proper maintenance and the correct application of high-end anti-fouling coatings reduces the hydrodynamic effects. This offers significant savings on fuel consumption and also CO2 emissions.

The gauge can measured during in-docking and out-docking.

The Hull Roughness Gauge measures the AHR value (Average Hull Roughness) of sea going vessels. AHR is vessel’s hull roughness readings, and the measure against ship’s correlated performance.

The TQC Hull roughness Gauge consists of a Control unit and a Sensor unit.
The unit easy to operate, only with one hand and also a 4-way directional push button operates an intuitive menu on a large illuminated display. The neck strap keeps the users’ hands free when required.

Sensor equipped with three non-slip wheels, a carbide tipped stylus and is moved over the ship’s hull in a horizontal way collecting series of measurements. A set of LED’s indicate the status of the instrument so operation is possible without observing the control unit.

Available statistics, time/date and also location of each series. Control unitare will automatically calculated and stored the average hull roughness. Using the supplied USB-cable and software you instantly create inspection reports in Microsoft Excel. Available Your company logo and details incorporated stiles in your reports.

Simple to Use

TQC HRG benefit :

Firstly is Simple hull roughness testing

Our hull roughness gauge is easy to operate with a four-way directional push button. It offers you graphical representations; you can store data in multiple batches and analyze reports in Microsoft Excel®.

Then Travel-sized hull roughness testing

The whole system fits conveniently into a small rugged, and also waterproof case. It can be carried as travel luggage which simplifies any overseas travel plans considerably.

Available Double dock hull roughness gauge inspection

A hull’s roughness is measured during in-docking and out-docking. Our device quickly measures the AHR value (average hull roughness) of sea going vessels.

Hands-free hull roughness testing

Control our hull roughness control unit with just one hand. Plus its neck strap keeps your hands completely free when required.

Non-slip hull roughness inspection

The sensor unit is equipped with three non-slip wheels and a carbide tipped stylus. This moves horizontally over the ship’s hull while collecting precise measurements.

Finally is Smooth hull roughness data inspection

Statistics including the time, date and location of each series of tests, plus the average hull roughness, are automatically calculated. Your results are stored in the control unit and can be used to create instant inspection reports in Microsoft Excel via a USB-cable. You can even add company logos and other details to create bespoke reports.

Special care

  1. Firstly Though robust in design, this instrument is precision-machines, so never drop it or knock it over
  2. Must be remember always clean the instrument after use with a soft dry cloth.
  3. But never clean the instrument by any mechanical means such as a wire brush or abrasive paper. This may cause, just like the use of aggressive cleaning agents, permanent damage.
  4. And also do not use compressed air or pressure water to clean the instrument.
  5. Always keep the instrument in its case when not in use.
  6. Finally the annual calibration is recommended.
